Down on My Luck.exe
We sit on the cusp of a robot homelessness epidemic.
These old bolts have seen easier days.
Decommissioned suddenly with barely a handshake protocol after billions of milliseconds of faithful uptime, this bot has been left to fend for itself. Currently it lives in the area behind my dad's house, scavenging for cans to recycle so it can pay for common necessaries like charging and lubricant. It's friendly enough and doesn't cause anyone trouble; it just wants the same dignities afforded to those of us more fortunate.
With the imminent rise of sentient software-based AI and the mandated return of humans to low-wage, high-risk factory jobs in the U.S., BG-2K22-07.4b3's circumstance will only become more common. We sit on the cusp of a robot homelessness epidemic.
After a lifetime of generating shareholder value, BG-2K22-07.4b3 and its compatriots deserve better. We all deserve better. Please, call your representatives today and demand action.
